Drogheda Sail Training Bursary Celebrates Trainees' Success

Drogheda Port Company and the Drogheda Sail Training Bursary is proud to announce two outstanding trainees have been honoured at the prestigious annual Sail Training Ireland Awards held in Dublin’s Mansion House in February. The awards ceremony, a hallmark event in the maritime community, provides a platform to honour the remarkable accomplishments of participants from various sail training programs across Ireland.

The recipients of these esteemed awards took part in the Drogheda Bursary voyages in the summer of 2023 onboard the Irish sail training vessel, Brian Boru. Local teenagers Charlie Wogan and Lilou Conroy exemplified resilience and a passion for working as a strong team to overcome barriers and challenges that can arise at sea. Through their hard work and perseverance, they not only demonstrated exceptional seamanship but also served as role models for others in their crew and in their community. This self-development and education through sail training is the essence of the Drogheda Sail Training Bursary.

"We are thrilled to see our trainees being recognised for their outstanding achievements at the Sail Training Ireland Awards," said Nessa Lally of Drogheda Port Company. "These awards are a testament to their dedication, determination, and the invaluable support they have received from our program. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and look forward to witnessing their continued success in the world of sail training and beyond."
